Low-tech, fierce-looking; the Original Gray again. Really looks like some guy slapped it together with spare parts, doesn't it? (This suit was unveiled with great fanfare this summer at SDCC.)

Armors from Iron Man

In the movie, Favreau used both real suits and CGI. On his MySpace page, the director stated, "I am very skeptical about the overuse of CGI. I am happy to report that the film will be a healthy mix of both computer generated and practical effects. My goal is to make the two integrate in a way that they usually do not."

Stan Winston Studios created several suits for the movie. The first one was the Original Gray, the armor Stark is forced to construct in captivity. At the bottom are more pics from when the whole suit was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con. The armor, kept safe in a glass box, was revealed only after sitting on the floor hidden inside a crate that caused a lot of excitement.

The second armor is a more modern, high tech suit, reminiscent of a the NTU Armor influenced by the current Extremis Armor.

The Original Gray. This first teasing image was released months before the release.

Stark (Downey) powers up a wicked gauntlet.

The Mark II armor.  Clearly, they skipped a few generations, but did you really think they would have Iron Man waddling around inside a sluggish iron bucket for two hours?
