Highpoints of the High-G . . . the beefy Hypergravity Armor, AKA High-G Suit, Model XXXI, Mark I. was donned for a wild space ride in Iron Man #83 (Volume III). Bulky and tough, this over-sized suit resembles Stark's previous Space Armors, but this model was built to withstand the enormous pressures of hyperspace travel. The Hyper G Armor can protect the wearer up to atleast 50 Gs (50 times the pull of the earth's gravity, at which pressure without the armor you'd be a splattered puddle). Beyond the obvious structural soundness needed for safety, the armor uses several major systems to protect the wearer. Mobility suite software aids in stability, controling magnetic and jet compensators (found in the over-sized boots) that manage balance--without it, Iron Man would vomit for sure. (But that's okay, the suit has the ability to clean and disinfect its interior in the event of any "reverse digestion.") The revolutionary design also forces blood to the limbs. Heavy-duty rivets hold the tin suit together at all major points, including the reinforced joints at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles. The major-league psuedo-musculature includes next-generation servo motors to help Iron Man fight the pull of gravity at hyper speeds, not to mention move. Also of note, special, articulated joints in the gloves allow for almost normal hand dexterity, including fine motor functions like typing. The armor doesn't guard Tony from the memory loss related to G-Loc (loss of consciousness), or nitrogen narcosis (the bends)--both symptoms of hyper G travel. Standard Stark touches include an on-board computer and a chestbeam. The special feature of this armor: An intermix mask, worn under the helmet, regulates the oxygen mix, allowing Iron Man to remove his helmet, if only for short periods. (Straight air is poisoness in the advanced pressure of high Gs.) Armaments: Unknown. |
