PAGE TWO Commentary

Joe Casey: Obviously, there's a healthy dose of meta-commentary going on here, with the Spymaster expressing a few feelings that I had about the state of Iron Man when I started this thing. And, of course, the big reveal of the new Spymaster, which I think Frazer handled extremely well.

PAGE TWO

THREE PANELS

Panel 1.

A silhouette of Spymaster bending down to pick up the magazine from the end table.

1 SPYMASTER: You don't GET to put the genie back in the bottle. No matter WHAT you tell the media . . . or YOURSELF . . .

2 SPYMASTER (2): Returning to this life of PRETENSE. Trying to evolve past the accepted paradigms. It's simply not UP to you.

Panel 2.

Spymaster's POV. He's now holding the FORTUNE magazine in his hand. Now we can see the cover. It's a photo portrait of Tony Stark (looking very corporate and dignified here).

3 SPYMASTER (from off): We're ALL businessmen. Of course, some of us are obviously MORE that that. I think I've accomplished enough in BOTH arenas to earn my title . . .

4 MAGAZINE LOGO: FORTUNE

5 MAGAZINE COVER TEXT (across top): FUTURE PHONES: LESS TALK, MORE ACTION / BRAND'S CEO IN COURT / WHAT STOCKS TO INVEST IN NEXT YEAR

6 MAGAZINE COVER TEXT (article titles): TONY STARK: THE RESURRECTION OF STARK INTERNATIONAL / PLUS: INDUSTRIAL ESPIONAGE--THE SHADOW EXPERTS

Panel 3.

Big panel on the page. Dramatic angle as the Spymaster steps out into the light and we see him for the first time. He's still holding the magazine in his hand. In the background (or maybe the foreground, bottom of the panel . . . whatever works better), we see the Iron Man hologram. Hopefully, but the time you're drawing this, we'll have a new Spymaster uniform worked out . . .

7 SPYMASTER: . . . SPYMASTER.

8 SPYMASTER (2): Welcome back to the life.

9 TITLES: THE INEVITABLE

BOOK ONE: THIS OLD TRUTH

10 CREDITS: JOE CASEY -- writer // FRAZER IRVING -- artist/colors //

COMICRAFT -- letterer // TOM BREVOORT -- editor //

JOE QUESADA -- EiC // DAN BUCKLEY -- president
